Property Owners Check List for Furnishings and Supplies

This list may prove to be helpful in getting your property in rental condition.  When in doubt, just ask yourself: Would I like or need it in a rental?  Would I sleep on or sit on it?  You’ve just answered the question.

SAFETY FIRST:

Working Smoke Detectors

Fire Extinguisher light

Flash Light

First Aid Kit

Emergency numbers posted near telephone.

Working Telephone, please leave long distance instructions.

HOUSE RULES: 

Leave instructions and information regarding trash collection, beach rules, appliances and quirks.  Some property owners provide brochures for local restaurants and attractions along with area maps.

NECESSITIES AND EXTRAS:

        Clock

        Telephone and Phone Book

        Radio and TV.  A VCR or DVD are nice additions

        Iron & Ironing Board

        Broom and dust pan

        Vacuum cleaner and bags

        Barbecue grill – if gas, please have a full tank.

        Furniture for the lawn, deck or patio 

        Extra light bulbs

        Cleaning Supplies, sponges and trash bags

For the Kitchen:

        Dishes: One place setting per person (min) including cereal bowls.  

        Glass Ware: Coffee cups and drinking glasses (1 per person min), 

                          Wine Glasses.

        Silverware: Min of one place setting per person. Extras are recommended.

        Knives:  Steak knives and appropriate kitchen knives

        Cooking Utensils: Spoons, forks, spatulas, potato masher etc.

        Pots & Pans: 3-4 various sizes of each including 1 large frying pan

        Juice Pitcher

        Lobster Pot

        Baking Pans, cookie sheets, muffin pan

        Mixing Bowls

        Casserole Dishes 

        Measuring cups and spoons

        Strainer/Sieve

        Cutting Board

        Salt and Pepper Shakers

        Pot Holders

        Dish Towels

        Can Opener, Bottle opener and Wine Corkscrew

        Coffee Maker

        Toaster and or toaster oven

        Microwave

BEDROOMS: 

   FOR EACH BED:  

        Clean mattress pad for each bed

                1 Blanket 

                1 Comforter and/or Bedspread 

                Min. 1 Pillow (put your head on it..is it clean? is it comfy??)

                Decent mattress

        Hangers in the closet or armoire

        Mirror

        Bureau/Dresser for clothing

Footnote: The majority of Cape & Island summer rentals do not include Linens.  If you are including them, please note so on your property posting and make appropriate arrangements with your tenants and or linen service.  If you are providing linens, it is recommended two sets of sheets per bed and two sets of bath, hand and face towels per person.

BATHROOM:

                Bath Mat and or anti-slip strips in each tub/shower

                Shower Curtain (Clean – no mildew please)

                Mirror

                Toilet bowl brush and plunger 

Properties are rented with the expectation of being furnished unless otherwise noted.  Table and chairs to accommodate the number of occupants and appropriate furnishings with sofa and chairs, etc. in good condition are the expectation.
